The Delphinium takes centre stage in this bouquet once again: the lush plume of flowers that you just can't take your eyes off. A true eye-catcher, the delphinium will transform any house into a dreamy home. Here are some handy tips to help you take care of this beauty.
A versatile beauty
There are 250 varieties of this flower in many different shades and colours. The name Delphinium is Latin for 'dolphin', which (with a little imagination) the buds of these flowers do resemble. The flower is also known as larkspur; a reference to the parts of the flower which project backwards. This is a reference to the spurs which knights used to wear on their boots. In this bouquet, the delphinium provides height and allure. From bud to full bloom: she flowers profusely and will look different every single day. View our Mono. Read the below tips to ensure that this flower flourishes.
1. Happy vase life
To make this summer flower shine in your vase for as long as possible, she needs a little help. Cut off about an inch of the stem before placing it in water. Remove as many leaves as possible from the stem and make sure that all the flowers are above the rim of the vase. Change the water every two to three days to prevent the water in your vase from turning into flower soup. And if you really want to do it right? Clean your vase once again when you change the water – your flowers will last even longer.
2. A nice place
If you take a close look at the Delphinium, you will notice that the stem is very strong, but its flowers are quite fragile. Each flower head consists of wafer-thin, frail petals. Make sure then that the Delphinium has a nice spot in the shade, since with a little sun exposure the flowers can quickly wilt.
3. Give your Delphinium space
The Delphinium is an exuberant bloomer and takes up quite a bit of space. We don't mind though, because this stem should be seen and admired. So make sure to give her enough space in your vase by leaning other stems of the same length in the opposite direction in your vase.
